Rust n Brique # 13
Long Time No See

This is the first Rust n Brique since last November. Evidently, I'm not so good at getting these things out on anything approaching a regular basis anymore. When I first starting doing Rust n Brique back in October of 2003, I basically had no life. The only person in Cleveland I really knew was then-boyfriend Jeff, I wasn't in a band yet and I'd never touched acyrlic paint in my life. In short, I had no friends and no hobbies, which makes for a lot more free time.

Now it's June 2006 and things are a lot different. I have a fairly large circle of friends, at least for me, considering I never knew more than two or three people anywhere else I lived. I'm still living with (and obviously, on good terms with) Jeff, but at the same time I'm in a fairly serious relationship with someone else. I've been doing a little professional writing. I had my first art showing. My band is playing a show in a couple weeks. I'm reading giant stacks of books in a desperate attempt to get some kind of grounding in literature before I start writing my "Great American Novel." It's hard to wedge a lot of "driving around looking at abandoned buildings" into all of that.

Issue #13 might not have even happened if it weren't for meeting our new contributor Joe, and finding out that he's also into this whole wacky industrial decay thing. What's even better, is that he's also into driving to places I've never been and showing me all kinds of crazy crap, like the Youngstown and Warren pictures in this issue. He also knows how to write his way out of a paper bag. The assistance and support of a new friend is the big source of inspiration behind #13.

Anyway, it seems like most of my energies are going to be going into other channels for the indefinite future. If you like Rust n Brique, please try checking out some of my other projects (you can find them on the main page of Decaying Industries), or, as always, please feel free to drop me a line at mail@decaying-industries.com.
