Your Dream, Age 8: Schools Get Knocked Down

I'll probably get ribbed by some good citizen for not paying attention to the issues, because all I know is due to some initiative in Lakewood, they decided to knock down a bunch of schools and build new ones. As much as I appreciate old buildings, I actually think it was a good move. None of these old elementary schools were really all that "historical" or interesting. I went to crappy inner-city schools with outdated wiring in old, weird-smelling, asbestos-soaked buildings with malfunctioning heating, and my parents spent their adult lives teaching in these places. I'd rather not have future generations going through things like having to wear winter coats all day in class because the classroom doesn't get above 45 degrees, just because some joker thinks the building is historical, or they live somewhere where the citizenry doesn't think building new schools is important.

So, since I've only lived in Lakewood for three years, I don't even know what school this was, remember what street it was on, or have any fond memories of attending it. The main thing I thought of when I saw this was how happy all the bitter little grade schoolers in the neighborhood must be to watch their school getting destroyed.
