Previous Updates: 1 September 2004 (Click to read about how I broke my legs in the first place) | 22 September 2004

It looks like I haven't updated this thing for almost two months. Part of it is that a friend of mine has been staying with us and he uses the computer almost all day, and part of it is that I've been too depressed to want to work on a webpage for a lot of that time, which is worsened by the fact that I really want to overhaul this whole site and haven't had the energy to do it. I'm so bored that I'm starting to feel like I'm thirteen all over again. It's been nearly four months and I'm understandably sick of spending all the time reading and shut up in the house. Fortunately, I began gradual weight bearing on my right foot about three weeks ago and I'm pretty close to walking. I can easily get around with two crutches, slowly but steadily walk with only one crutch, and comedically hobble with no crutches. I get really sore and swollen after only a short period, though. I'm supposed to be wearing the giant Aircast boot pictured below on the right foot, but it's practically impossible to stand up or balance in something with a U-shaped sole. So, I've been using Converse with giant insoles, which is much, much easier. My left leg is much less interesting. I don't have to wear a brace or anything on it, and it's in pretty good shape, but still gets sore and isn't at 100% yet. I think a lot will improve once I start walking, which will hopefully be in a few days. All in all, I've been healing up on schedule and am learning to walk ahead of schedule, so I can't complain too much.

Here's some photos from over the last couple months.

A picture of my rust-painted aircast, originally a dull grey. A lot of the paint has peeled off, making it look even more crunky.

Jeff took a few pictures of me on crutches right after I dyed my burgundy-red hair purple and ended up with really interesting red and purple hair. Another one is on my About Me page.

Some x-rays of my healed heel from November 17.
